Announcements
BackAt Gable Hall, we are committed to ensuring the best possible outcomes for our students, and attendance plays a vital role in their success.
Why Attendance is Important
Research shows a strong connection between regular school attendance and achievement. Only 36% of persistently absent students achieve their expected grades in English and Maths GCSEs, compared to 78% of those with good attendance. Beyond academics, attending school consistently also supports mental health, wellbeing, and social development. Thanks to your support, Gable Hall’s attendance remains above the national average, giving our students more opportunities to thrive.
Guidance for the Cold and Flu Season
As we enter the colder months, we understand parents may feel uncertain about whether mild illnesses warrant keeping a child at home. To support attendance, we encourage the following:
- Children with mild symptoms, such as a cough, runny nose, sore throat, headache, or tummy ache, should still attend school.
- Refer to the NHS ‘Is my child too ill for school?’ guidance for more information.
If your child is too unwell to attend school:
- Report their absence via the school absence line (01375 400800, option 1) by 8:00 am daily.
- Please note that emails to info@gablehall.com are no longer accepted for reporting absences.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain excellent attendance and providing the best opportunities for our students to succeed.
